Events in Sitges 2023


Sitges is the most amazing town, we have a special event nearly every month attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world. From the spectacular Carnival in February to the stunning festival of Corpus Christi in May, where the streets are covered in flowers, to the electrifying and explosive events that make up the festivals of Sant Bartolomeu in August and Santa Tecla in September Sitges has it all.

Below is a list of some of the best events so make sure you book your apartment early and don't miss out on all the fun this incredible town has to offer.


FEBRUARY 2023

Carnaval 15th February – 22nd February

Sitges is fantastically crazy at Carnival, an event that has been celebrated for over 100 years. Be prepared as it is a pretty wild time with everyone dressing up in costume and letting his or her hair down or wearing a wig! The event kicks off on the Thursday with the Arrival of the King. The parade days are Sunday 19th and Tuesday 221st. If you've never been, although it can be pretty cold, it's actually when Sitges is at its busiest. All of the bars, restaurants, clubs and shops are open during Carnaval.


MARCH 2023

Barcelona To Sitges Vintage Car Rally 11th - 12th March

Vintage cars travel along the old seaside road from Barcelona to Sitges. The best places to see these magnificent cars are in the Port Aiguadolc when they arrive or by the church at the Fragata beach during the afternoon. The Rally was founded in 1959 and is made up of members of a number of privately-owned vehicles made between 1900 and 1924. The competition winners are not just the fastest, but the ones with the most original automobiles and who also dress in accordance with the times of the car they are participating with.

International Patchwork Festival 23rd - 26th March

For the consecutive year the AEP organises the International Patchwork Festival in Sitges. The public can enjoy various exhibitions and a big trade fair on the seafront. The weekend after it is the turn of scrapbooking with stalls selling everything you need to do this popular craft.

Easter/Semana Santa 2nd - 10th April

Sant Jordi 14th April

If you see the people of Sitges with either a book or a rose it’s because it is Saint George’s Day. The custom is to give a rose to a girl and a book to a boy! Stalls on seafront will be selling books and roses.

Festival Jazz Antic Sitges 29th April - 2nd May

National and International artists for this traditional jazz festival in various venues around town

Bears Week 28th April - 1st May

Warm up for the summer and a less busy than the September event


JUNE 2023

Gay Pride 14th-19th June

Sitges Pride 2023 will be bigger than ever as post covid and restrictions! The celebrations kick off on Saturday, June 14th and there will be ten days of non-stop action. As Sitges is one of Europe’s most popular gay destinations, Pride is guaranteed to draw a diverse, lively and very shirtless crowd. It also gives you the perfect excuse to have a week in Spain to start the summer – which is always a good plan!

Corpus Christi / Flower Carpets 8th - 18th June

Sitges most beautiful event.
The town of Sitges celebrates Corpus Christi every year with style! Sections of the major streets are closed to traffic for at least 24 hours. Then intricate templates are drawn on the road. Neighbors from each street gather into the small hours of morning, plucking the petals off Carnation flowers. These petals are then placed on the patterns on the road. The transformation is amazing. It has to be seen to be believed.

Vida Festival, Vilanova 29th June-1st July

Fabulous 3 day music festival in neighbouring Vilanova il La Geltru. Free buses back and forward from Sitges.


JULY 2023

Festival Jardins de Terramar 27th July- 10th August

Sitges international music festival of national and international artists in the Terramar gardens. Multiple live performances by International artists as well as food trucks and wine stall and DJs

AUGUST 2023

August Festa Major 19th - 28th August

This is the BIG ONE. The main annual fiesta in honour of Sant Bartomeu, the patron Saint of Sitges. The firework display on the 23rd at 23:00 is one of the most spectacular displays of fireworks to be seen. You need to be down by the beach by 21:00 as it is very busy and the town gets closed off in preparation. The backdrop to this magnificent display is the church of Santa Tecla. Not to be missed!

SEPTEMBER 2023

Sitges Bears Week 1st September - 10th September

Sitges Bears Week is an international event that fills the town of Sitges during the first two weeks of September. There are parties and events held throughout the village. There is also a dedicated Bears Village by the beach with free shows, DJ’s and more. The event attracts guys of all ages and types and many new friendships are made and old ones rekindled.

Santa Tecla 22nd- 23rd September

This fiesta is a mini Fiesta Mayor but still explosive and crazy. The fireworks on the 22nd are still spectacular, but on a smaller scale than the August festival. Around the streets of Sitges there is drumming and the parading of the dragon. Worth watching the children spinning their fireworks, but beware, the safety rules are pretty lax, so don’t wear your best gear.

Mediterranean Ladies Golf Open, Sitges Golf Club dates TBC

Come and see some of the top golfers play in the beautiful setting of the Sitges Golf Club in Terramar. Also live music and food trucks.

Sitges Cheese Festival 27th-29th September

New festival with many different cheeses to taste and buy

OCTOBER 2023

The Sitges International Film Festival 5th October - 15th October

The Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world's best festival specializing in fantasy and horror films. Join the Zombie Walk, you can made up by professional make-up artists and zombie walk your way through the Sitges streets along with hundreds of the other “walking dead”. You can also join the A list and watch screenings and premieres at all our local cinemas

Grape Harvest Festival 12th-13th October

Sitges devotes three days to celebrate the wine harvest, which has been of great importance in the economy of the area throughout its history. On Friday the official proclamation is read announcing the 'pubilla' (festival queen) of Sitges. The wine tasting begins on Saturday, and on Sunday morning is the first pressing done in the traditional way, while in the evening the most colourful event takes place: the grape treders contest.
Sitges Wine Show. There are numerous stalls where producers and merchants of wines of the region exhibit their products are arranged along the Paseo de la Ribera. The gastronomic sector of Garraf is also represented.

Irish/Catalan cultural festival including music, theatre and poetry in various venues around town

JANUARY 2024

5th January evening – Procession of the 3 Kings around Sitges throwing sweets to the children and collecting their letters for the presents to be delivered by them on the 6th January.
